Love animals? We certainly do. Rachel, our owner and operator, has always felt an over-pouring of love and connection to dogs since she was just a little girl. She grew up with golden retrievers as her family pets, and adopted her very own puppy in 2009 in Big Sky, Mont., a Rottweiler/German Shepard name Maverick Cedar (pictured above). Rachel and Maverick were the best of friends. Hiking, digging for rocks in the river, and going everywhere together (even work) were some of their favorite pastimes. Rachel's special bond and love for Maverick was indescribable, a pure joy.
Love of a different kind got them to move over to Ennis, Mont. in 2016 to live with her current fiance, Jaritt, letting Maverick live his best life with endless area to run, play and discover. Adding to the pack, Opal, our fawn Great Dane, joined the family in the summer of 2019. Shortly after, Rachel and her fiance welcomed their first child together, a baby boy named Hudson.
Rachel made the transition to become a stay at home mom, but her desire to start her own business continued to grow. She soon noticed that there was no dog treats being sold at her local farmers market. She decided to change that, and so Treasure State Treats was born.
Rachel's love for animals goes beyond dogs. Her family, or farm-ily, as she likes to call it is made up of a great blend of creatures. She has two Great Danes, one female fawn named Opal and a male chocolate merle named Oslo. Her cat, Taco, acts more like a dog than a cat. Then, there's the "miniature" pigs, Orville and Amos, and her five chickens, whose eggs we use for our dog-licious treats. They're all named after spices, Paprika (Pappi), Garlic, Rosemary, Basil and Thyme. A fun gang of charters to say the least!
